Pre-School Practitioner - Closing Date 26 February 2019

Job Type:                   35 hours per week, term time only

Due to the increasing number of children on role at our St George’s Pre-school, Connect Schools Academy Trust are looking to recruit an inspirational Pre-School Practitioner to join the team.  St George’s opened in September 2018 and is a ‘pack away’ setting which is a spacious and well equipped environment. 

The Trust provides regular training and development opportunities and also considers the well-being of their staff by offering a well-being day and other incentives to staff completing their probationary period. 

Applications from non-qualified individuals, with experience will be considered for this role. 

Candidates must have: 

  • Experience of working in a relevant setting
  • Have an understanding of the foundation stage curriculum and effective planning around the curriculum
  • Be confident working with groups of children, on a one to one basis and children with special needs

  • Have a current paediatric first aid certificate or willing to undertake training

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT – BUSY BEES

Crofton Infant School have 18 children in our additionally resourced provision classes for children with severe and complex needs.  We are looking to employ an Individual Support Assistant on a fixed term contract until August 2019 to support a child in the class environment. 

The appointed applicant:

  • will be working closely alongside the class teacher to help support a child with severe and complex needs.
  • will support to help develop the child's learning and engagement.
  • will help to support the child's well-being in the class environment.
  • must have the ability to adapt to different situations.
  • should be versatile and flexible with their duties.
  • must have an understanding of working with children who have severe and complex needs and the challenges that are presented by these.
  • prior experience of working with children with severe and complex needs would be preferable but not essential.
  • will need the ability to work closely with the class teacher to develop different strategies to enhance the child's welfare.
  • should have lots of enthusiasm and patience for working with children. 
  • must be able to work well within a team.

TEACHING ASSISTANT/HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT – CROFTON INFANT SCHOOL 

Our Infant School Team are looking for a friendly outgoing individual to join our dedicated team of education providers. 

We are looking to recruit a teaching assistant/HLTA at the Infant school for 13 hours and 45 minutes TA and 15 hours HLTA (28 hours & 45 minutes) per week. 

You will be a class TA working with the class teacher to support learning within the classroom environment including split input teaching and working with targeted groups of children.

As a HLTA you will provide teachers with cover for their release times, PPA and staff absence.  You will be able to claim the difference in the TA/HLTA rate for additional cover if your HLTA hours are over the expected 15 hours per week.

The successful applicant should: 

  • Have previous experience as a teaching assistant in a primary school setting
  • Have good mathematics and English
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Be able to communicate well with children, parents and colleagues
  • Be able to adapt activities towards child’s learning abilities
  • Flexible
  • Pro-actively seek out teachers to talk over lesson plans
  • Be able to source equipment for planned and ad-hoc lessons
  • Have a sound knowledge and understanding of the safe guarding of children
  • Be forward thinking and proactive
  • Have a good sense of humour and be ready to dress up for various events including world book day
