As you are aware there has been an increase in e-scooters being used in public areas in the London Borough of Bromley illegally. The use of privately owned e-scooters on public roads and pavements is unlawful and many individuals, particularly young people, seem unaware of the law and the dangers the use of these e-scooters can pose.
As Christmas is fast approaching and we turn our minds to gifts, please be advised that e-scooters are illegal to use and if stopped, police are issuing up to £300 fines, 6 points on their driving licence in some cases and e-scooters are being seized/destroyed - to date over 3000 e-scooters have be seized by the police. If a person does not hold a driving licence, the penalty points will be held against their name until a licence is applied for and then added.
Unfortunately, the Bromley Road Safety Team are starting to see some very serious accidents on e-scooters and hope by providing the attached information we can save lives.
