To purchase durable School sports equipment
|
To ensure we have enough equipment for all children in PE lessons such as the right size equipment. These can also be used if needed for inter competitions and in PE lessons.
We also ensure the facilities in out school are safe and that children can play a range of sports.
The pitch has also been supplied with more soil.
|
Children can play more games against different schools as we can provide the correct equipment on site. Children will need to be educated in how to use equipment and look after it so that it lasts longer. Sports captains (Year 6 children) will audit the sports cupboard to ensure the equipment is being looked after and stored correctly.
|
£7135 equipment consumables
|
Equipment that has been bought is of a higher quality therefore will last longer. Equipment such as football goals can be used for competitive sports for both girls’ and boys’ teams.
Equipment can be also be used by individual classes during their PE lessons.

Entering more than one competition will encourage children to return to the same course and better themselves developing self-belief, confidence and motivation.
Having a team represent the school at a range of different sporting events will inspire children from the school to not only support the school/children but join one of the clubs running at the school. |

2. |
Intra and Inter- house sports competitions |
To promote intra house competition within the school and P.E sessions and develop links with other schools to provide opportunities for our teams to play other schools in a variety of different sports.
To set up a fixtures diary for all coaches and teachers to follow.
Clubs encourage all children to promote their love of running and take part in a competitive event with their peers against other schools.
|
The intra competition, led by sports coaches at lunchtime, enables all children at the school to get involved in competition with each other. Children have developed tactics independently from coaches to achieve the best outcome and have demonstrated huge amounts of collaboration. It is a chance for children to apply the skills they have learnt in their curricular PE session and see how it has an impact in a real life sport situation. Setting up a fixtures diary will allow the different coaches and teachers to be able to arrange games between different local schools. Entering into competitions allows children to compete against other schools. It instils a sense of pride to represent their school and they have the opportunity to complete as a team and individually.

Children being able to see their own improvement when competing in different situations helps them become critical thinkers and evaluate themselves in a positive way which will extend across the curriculum to other subjects. Further intra competitions run by staff (which are self- sufficient once running) will allow more opportunities for children to compete but being self-sufficient will encourage staff to participate. Children will be able to showcase their talents and skills by playing against different schools. |

Year 6 Swimming
For the 2018 to 2019 academic year, there was a new condition requiring schools to publish how many pupils within their year 6 cohort are meeting the national curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations All children at Crofton are offered a course of swimming lessons in Year 4. This year, we have also offered top-up swimming lessons in Year 5 children who have been identified as needing extra support following their Year 4 lessons in the academic year 2023-2024. This has cost £420.
We have surveyed the current Year 6 children and can report the following (total cohort 180):
