SUMMER TERM
Dear parents and carers,
We now only have one term left of Year 4 and we’ve got an exciting one planned. With the weather improving, pupils will have more opportunities for outdoor learning and experiences, which we are sure they will enjoy.
Homework and Reading
Homework will continue to be on the school website. Children have all been given logins to access any websites or apps they are required to use. The children will continue to bring home their reading record book and are expected to read to an adult at least 3 times each week and keep a record of the pages read.
Thank you for finding the time to hear your child read regularly because it makes such a difference to their confidence and learning.
Times Tables
The children will continue to practise times tables facts in school. It would be beneficial if this could also take place at home as this will increase your child’s confidence and accuracy when calculating. Children could spend some time on Times Table Rock Stars and Hit the Button to support them with this.
Children will complete the National Multiplication Times Table Check after May half term. More information will be sent to parents regarding this soon.
BYMT Music Teaching
This year, the children will be taught singing, instruments and music technology on a termly basis. 4R and 4T will be learning instruments this term.
P.E.
The children will need to come to school wearing their PE kits every Monday for their Munchkin led PE sessions. Each class (except those swimming), will then also have an additional PE session and will need to come to school in the PE kit on this day too. You will be made aware of this day.
Swimming
This term 4T and 4R will be swimming from the 30th April (4T) and 1st May (4R) until 25th June (4T) and 26th June (4R) (excluding the one week half term).
Dates for the diary
Wednesday 21st May – Year 4 PTA Disco
Monday 25th – Friday 29th May - Half term
Tuesday 21st July - Last day of summer term
There are also trips to Bromley Central Library, a historical walk around Petts Wood and Hastings. You will receive information about when your child’s class is going on each of these trips.
We are keen to continue to promote high standards both in the classroom and around school. We are delighted to see that the majority of pupils are wearing the correct school uniform, including appropriate footwear. All school policies including the uniform policy are available on the school website.
If you have any queries or concerns about your child, please contact your child’s teacher.
Many thanks,
Mrs Campbell and the Year 4 team
